March 20, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Two inmates, Suzuki Temael and Tilford Ongor Petrus, who were charged for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree of two other inmates, in the first jury trial of this year, received 18 months imprisonment sentence in a plea bargain agreement with the government.


In the plea bargain agreement, both inmates pled guilty to lesser crime of Assault in the First degree and the government dropped other charges against them including charge of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

Inmate Suzuki Temael admitted to stabbing Kennon Demei with a sharp object and inmate Tilford Ongor Petrus admitted to stabbing Chico Matsuoka with a knife in Koror jail on April 21, 2016.

The 18 months sentence is to run concurrently with their current sentences, in other words, served at the same time as their current sentences and does not add additional time to their current sentences.

The commitment order issued on March 16, 2017 also restored the one-hour reprieve for inmate Suzuki Temael while in solitary confinement. [/restrict]
