It was announced on the Office of the President of the Republic of Palau Facebook page on March 3rd that the Palau Red Cross Society fundraiser for Australia accumulated $25,000.

Office of the President of the Republic of Palau and Palau Red Cross Society extends their thanks to all that took time to donate or contribute to the fundraiser which includes individuals, businesses, organizations, and volunteers.

It stated in the Facebook post “It is through your goodwill that Palau was able to lend a helping hand to our friends in Australia.”

These past few months, the fires in Australia have burned through over 100,000 square kilometers of land, destroyed over 5000 buildings including homes, took the lives of 34 people, killed an estimated billion endangered species with some driven to extinction. According to the Guardian, the damage from these bushfires is likely to exceed the 4.4 Billion set by the 2009 bushfires. (Telbakes Yano)
