A fundraiser will be conducted by the government to support the head of Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA) who was recently targeted by unidentified arsonist.

A public announcement released by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) stated that the fundraising event will be held on November 8 in Did ra Ngmatl, Koror from 9am to 5pm.

“The entire police forces are asking for the public’s generosity and help in supporting [NEA] Director Ismael Aguon and his family who became victims of recent act of vandalism,” the public announcement read.

The MOJ urged the community to help their fellow “in this time of need,” saying that any monetary amount is welcome.

“Director Aguon is a dedicated, veteran civil servant who has served decades in law enforcement, helping to keep our communities and properties safe,” it added.

Aguon’s Ford Expedition car was charred after an unknown suspect set it on fire on October 11 at 2am. The director previously divulged to the media that this incident might be related to the drug-related cases they are working on.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is still conducting an investigation on the incident.

The MOJ, through the public announcement, called the incident a “mindless act of crime.” (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
