The FY 2020-2021 school year for all public schools will begin on August 3, 2020 announced Minister of Education Sinton Soalablai at the press briefing this week.

Minister Soalablai also said that private school opening schedules are not yet clear but they usually start a week or so after public school starts.

The reason for the early enrollment is to give teachers and students the opportunity to get started, set up and prepare in case of unexpected school closure during these unpredictable times.

“A major task taking right place now is a special training for all teachers on technology and remote learning. Another reason for the schools to start at this time is to provide the opportunity for the students and teachers to come together in the event a lockdown occurs, they have had a chance to come together and set up for school.  That way we will be better prepared than we were last time,” explained Minister Soalablai.

Annual teachers’ conference will be taking place this July in preparation for the new school year.

Minister Soalablai assured that all private school teachers are welcome to attend the technology and remote learning training.
