A total of $152,767.50 was presented to Minister Emais Roberts through a short handing over ceremony held at the Ministry of Health offices on April 29th.
The procurement of this grant was made possible through the help of Permanent Mission of the Republic of Palau to the UN that submitted a request and the India-UN Development Partnership Fund for approving the disbursement of the grant.
The grant is to aide with Palau’s response efforts to COVID-19.
Robert Scaria, Honorary Consul of India to Palau mentioned that the nation of India sees the fast spread of the virus all over the world and wants to help with whatever capacity they have.
Scaria revealed that other Pacific nations will be receiving grants as well from the India-UN Development Partnership Fund and the amounts that they will receive will also be around the same range as Palau.
During the handover ceremony, Minister Emais Roberts presented a certification of appreciation to the Indian Government, India-UN Development Partnership Fund, and United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation for their assistance with COVID-19 response.
