Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.
~Thomas Merton
Yesterday (Monday) I racked my brain looking for something to write. I found myself looking for a word or words that would stir up my heart and mind to be creative. I found nothing. Absolutely nothing. So I decided not to write. I didn’t feel guilty or being irresponsible or so I thought. (sigh). I found myself excusing my behavior for skipping out on my promises to myself. Self-soothing ??? -maybe like – Every now and then one needs to play hookie and be brave enough to admit that she has no muse.
The promise of GOD that says, “Be still and know that I AM God.” is always buzzing overhead and so true. This is heavy stuff. The word “Be still” in Hebrew means take your hands off and relax. To be still is to sink into the love of God… I love the complexity of Hebrew words. Another word that blows me away is “watch” meaning “eyelid”. Your God watches over you like an eyelid over the eye. He never sleeps nor slumber always protecting watching. Zechariah 2:8b says that he who touches you touches the apple of his eye. Psalm 17:8: “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of your wings.
Passover is coming. Sunday is coming. Resurrection day is coming. Thank you LORD GOD for the gift of salvation.
My muse: Good Friday. It is finished. Free gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins from yesterday, today and forever. Love and grace abound. Sink into that deep love of God and let it saturate your life.
A man went to heaven and the angels at the gate asked him: “How did you get here? You’re that thief who were crucified next to our LORD. You’re not suppose to be here. How come you’re here?
He replied, “I know I don’t deserve this, but the man in the middle cross said I can.”
Prat with me this old Anglican prayer: Father what we know not, teach us. What we have not, give us. What we are not, make us. For your Son’s sake. Amen.
Happy Easter!
BTW Jesus didn’t die to save the ocean. He died to save human beings.
