President Tommy Remengesau, Jr. signed a presidential proclamation declaring Janaury 3 as the National Day of Prayer in Palau.

Through the proclamation, which was signed on December 24, Remengesau invited all people, regardless of their religious backgrounds, to come together in prayer at 6am of the date at the National Capitol in Melekeok.

“The National Day of Prayer provides the opportunity for people of all faiths to come together and give thanks and pray to the Almighty God’s continued blessings, guidance, forgiveness, and protection,” the proclamation read.

Remengesau also cited that the framers of Palau’s Constitution recognized that the central value of the country is the acknowledgment of God, hence, enshrining it in the Constitution’s preamble. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
