Japan Olympic and Paralympic Minister Shunichi Suzuki said that his country would be willing to help share the insights they will gather in preparing for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 that might be helpful to Palau in its hosting of the Pacific Mini Games in 2025.

Suzuki told the Palau press that a conversation with the Palau National Olympic Committee executives involved the upcoming hosting of Palau of the regional sports event.

“We would like to share the insights we will be gathering in terms of the innovation to the [Tokyo] 2020 Games. Our experience and insights we would like to share that,” Suzuki said.

In meeting some of the athletes during his visit in Palau, Suzuki said that he recognizes Palauan athletes’ high potential in their respective sports.

Palau previously won the bid to host the Pacific Mini Games in 2025 after securing 16 out of the 21 votes.

Only Palau and American Samoa had previously presented their bids for the hosting of the games in 2025.

The Pacific Games is eyeing around 3,000 athletes from the 22 member countries to participate in the sports events. Australia and New Zealand are also expected to send representations for the games.
