From August 26th to August 28th, two Japanese associate professors returned to Palau for their second visit to conduct science shows for local students. Mr. Ryoji Fukuoka of Osaka Seikei University and Ms. Masayo Akazawa of Bukkyo University held engaging science presentations at Melekeok Elementary School, George B. Harris Elementary School, Ngaraard Elementary School, and Maris Stella School.

Mr. Fukuoka and Ms. Akazawa demonstrated several exciting experiments, including making iodine water (the “magic disappearing color” experiment), using plastic bottles with varying amounts of air to mimic the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and illustrating the Coanda effect with a leaf blower and balloons. Special mini experiments were also presented at some of the schools.

The students enthusiastically participated in the experiments and enjoyed learning from the two visiting professors. Mr. Fukuoka and Ms. Akazawa returned to Palau with the aim of promoting a deeper appreciation for science, not only in educational settings but also in everyday life.

Through these interactive science shows, they hope to spark curiosity and enthusiasm for science among younger students in Palau. The Embassy of Japan remains committed to supporting educational opportunities, and this visit also helps strengthen the educational and cultural ties between Japan and Palau.
