Teacher Training Program: Applications now Available

Applications for the Japan Government Scholarship 2017, Teacher Training Program are now available at the Embassy of Japan.  Any university or teacher training school graduate born on or after April 2, 1982, who has accumulated at least a total of five (5) years teaching experience at the elementary or secondary educational level by April 1, 2017, qualifies as a potential applicant.

The Teacher Training Program is one (1) of the four (4) types of scholarships offered to Palauans by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT).  The scholarship covers all tuition and fees, and provides a grantee with a monthly stipend, and plane tickets to and from Japan.  Through the Teacher’s Training Program, MEXT seeks to improve the educational system in Palau, and therefore, all scholarship recipients must return to Palau after the scholarship period and utilize their learning towards educational development in Palau.

The Teacher Training Program offers training in educational administration (such as educational administration and finance, school management), educational methods (examples: classroom teaching, learning system theory, curriculum, and educational assessment), specialized subject research (examples: mathematics, physics, chemistry, and gymnastics), and observational tours and practices (examples: class observations, participation in special educational activities, and tours of educational research facilities).
