New Scholarship for National Institute of Technology Added This Year

The Embassy of Japan in Palau is now accepting applications for the Japanese Government Scholarships for School Year 2025. There are now four (4) types of Japanese Government Scholarships offered to Palauan nationals through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). These scholarships that are open for applications are Research (graduate), Undergraduate, Specialized Training College, and the newly introduced National Institute of Technology programs.

Palauan students interested in applying for these scholarships who were born on or after April 2, 2000, are eligible to apply for the Undergraduate, College of Technology and Specialized Training College scholarship programs. Those who meet the age requirement and will graduate from high school by March 2025 are also eligible to apply. The Specialized Training College is a three (3) year study program while the new National Institute of Technology scholarship is a four (4) year study program. The Undergraduate is a five (5) year program. All three programs include a one- year Japanese language study.

The Research program funds for education in Japan at a master’s course, a doctoral course, or a professional graduate course at a graduate school. Applicants must have completed at least 16 years of education and have a bachelor’s degree in order to apply for master’s course, and those who are willing to apply for higher education level (doctoral course) must have a master’s degree. Applicants for this scholarship program must be born on or after April 2, 1990.

All four programs are full scholarship programs covering airfare, tuition, and monthly stipends. Applications, guidelines, and other information are available through the Embassy of Japan in

Ngerkebesang or on their website https://www.palau.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/education.html. Application deadline for this year’s programs will be different. The Research Program deadline is Monday, June 10, 2024 and the remaining programs deadline is Friday, June 21, 2024.
