July 2, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Koror State swept the lion share of the2017 Belau Games with 248 medal, 98 gold, 89 silver and 61 bronze.

Ngarchelong followed grabbing 221 medals, 61 gold, 97 silver and 63 bronze. Sonsorol  dominating weightlifting gained third place with 71 medals, 40 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze.


The events include many different sports.  This year included new sports that were not part of Belau Games in prior years such as Football, Judo, wrestling and Triathlon.

Traditional events such as softball, basketball, athletics, weightlifting, volleyball, spearfishing, Micro-all-around and others remained staple events of Belau Games.

Belau Games is a biennial sporting event conducted by Palau National Olympics Committee and various Sports Federations with State governments.

Eleven out of sixteen states participated this year.  Kayangel, Ngiwal, Melekeok, Aimeliik and Ngeremlengui opted out this year. [/restrict]
