Koror, Palau— Acting on Governor Franco B. Gibbons’ vision of creating a memorable experience for the children this Christmas, his team is preparing a once-a-year attraction for children and people of all ages—the creation of Koror Christmas Village at Long Island Park. The attraction is a pilot project this year with hopes of coming back every year. Families will get to enjoy with their children and loved ones in a safe and secured area surrounded by Christmas decor and ambiance. Shoppers and tourists will also get a chance to buy handmade crafts while foodies will get a chance to enjoy treats from local vendors.

The Koror Christmas Village will feature a unique North Pole Town complete with a choo-choo train and a giant Christmas tree; all constructed by KSG’s Department of Public Works. Selfie-takers and families will also get a chance to visit Santa Clause and snap instagramable photos at the first ever Christmas-themed Insta Museum in Palau.

The idea is for parents to bring their kids for a fun and memorable experience while also having a chance to get some of their gift shopping done at the same time. It also creates an opportunity for businesses and vendors to sell their products in a market-type environment.

“We are really excited for this project. Just the planning of it gets us in a great mood. We have a talented group of architects, event organizers, marketers, and safety personnel who are all working to bring a magical experience to the children of Palau. We certainly are blessed to be able to do things like this with the vision and backing of Governor Gibbons who’s always reminding us to do things for the children. We are also very lucky and grateful to be able to work closely with Palau Visitors Authority as our marketing partner. It’s exciting to be in a room full of talent and great ideas as we pull this together,” says KSG’s Chief of Staff, Joleen Ngoriakl, who’s leading the team.

The Koror Christmas Village will open on Friday, December 20th until Christmas Eve Tuesday, December 24th, from 5pm to 9pm at Long Island Park located in Malakal, Medalaii, Koror.
