October 11, 2016 (Koror) Land Court Senior Judge Quay Polloi recently requested both houses of OEK to pass a law allowing Land Court to adjudicate cases involving private land claims only.

According to Judge Polloi, out of the total 535 pending cases before Land Court, 434 cases or 80% of the cases involve private claims.

Acknowledging the on-going debate involving public land claims, Judge Polloi asks OEK to amend the current law to allow Land Court to only address the pending private land cases.

With only 20% of the cases involving public land claims, Polloi is seeking OEK’s assistance to quickly address the bulk of the pending cases before Land Court.

Senate bill 9-188 proposing to extend the life of Land Court is currently in the House.  According to Senator Uduch Senior, this can be amended to incorporate the proposal of Judge Polloi.

Meanwhile both houses can continue the discussion on the public land claims. [/restrict]
