Late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo

Presidential Proclamation No. 23-350, issued on June 18th, 2023, by President Surangel Whipps Jr., proclaims and honors the late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo after his untimely passing.

Late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo was the longest-sitting member of the Peleliu State Legislature and also the longest-sitting member of the Palau National Council of Chiefs.

According to the Presidential Proclamation, late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo assumed the highest chiefly title of Obak’ldelolk of Ngerdelolk of Peleliu State at the age of 38 in 1976 and took his seat in the Peleliu State Legislature in 1983.

Late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo attended the Far Eastern Island Academy of Guam and, after graduating, returned to Palau and started his own construction company.  He continued to serve his State Peliliu faithfully over the years, including the Council of Chiefs until his death on June 8, 2023

In 2015 he received Japan’s Emperor’s Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays medal in recognition of his service to strengthening the relationship between Japan and Palau.

Late Chief Obak’ldelolk Isao P. Singeo is survived by his siblings, numerous children, and grandchildren.

In honor of his accomplishments and contribution, the Presidential Proclamation will fly half-staff starting tomorrow until June 19.  All Palau flags in every Palauan embassy will be flying half-staff. (By: L.N. Reklai)
