There’s a crack in everything,  that’s how lights gets in. —-Unknown

One of the most well known Proverbs quotes is from chapter 18, verse 2: “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”

This is what is meant by ‘A fool thinks himself to be wise’. This Shakespeare quote means that a person who lacks wisdom or knowledge often overestimates their own abilities or insights, thinking that they are more intelligent than they actually are.  Yes! I was a fool.

For the longest time I felt unworthy; a worthless person not belonging anywhere. Growing up with a distorted belief that I’m the cause of everyone’s problem was killing me softly (sings Roberta Flack)

As a teenager I believed that I was a worthless blob taking space that shamed my mother and the family. And the whole of Palau could live without me. Shame.

You can imagine how I thought I died and went to heaven when I learned about Neuroplasticity. It is known as sanctification (and justification by faith). WOW I can change my thoughts and how I felt to what is truth and stop being a victim other people’s idea of who and what I am and what I should be. Renewing my mind with the Truth.

The truth: I am loved enough for Someone to sacrifice his life for me so I can live with peace that’s beyond explaining.  He thought I was worth more than two cents.

Neuroplasticity in simple terms is defined as the ability of the nervous system to change its activity in response to intrinsic or extrinsic stimuli by reorganizing its structure, functions, or connections after injuries, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury.

We tend to think that traumatic brain injury is a result of physical abuse, war or some auto accident.  But that’s not the whole picture.  We are not just physical being. We are intellectual, emotional and spiritual beings with a freewill.

Emotional Trauma and PTSD do cause both brain and physical damage. Neuropathologists have seen overlapping effects of physical and emotional trauma upon the brain.

Neuroplasticity in Biblical term  is “santification” or simply put –   change. We can change by firing our new path that

leads to emotional health and regulation.

“Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you” Psalms 25:4-5 NLT.
