June 9, 2017 (Koror,Palau) Bureau of Customs & Border Protection detained local man arriving from Philippines United Airlines flight on Tuesday for alleged importation of 2.79 grams of  

[restrict] methamphetamine or “Ice” on Tuesday, June 5th.

In report filed by Officer Nicholas Aquino Jr., a Customs and Border Protection officer assigned to Narcotics Enforcement Agency, Mr. Keith Ibchui Wasisang arrived with no checked package and passed directly through arrival to Customs with only a small paperbag similar to those used for air sickness on airplanes.

Mr. Wasisang was brought in for inspection and nothing was found on his person.  According to report, Wasisang left after inspection without retrieving his paper bag.  Upon inspection of the bag, officers found a rolled up napkin with betel nut spit residue. In addition, the bag contained two small plastic bags containing crystal like substances.

Mr. Wasisang was immediately returned to the office and the items were tested.  According to the report, the results were positive for methamphetamine.

Wasisang denied any knowledge of the drugs but did say that the bag and spit inside was his.

At hearing yesterday, Mr. Wasisang denied the charges made against him and posted bail of $1,000. [/restrict]
