May 7th: Leg 1 of the 2022 Open Water Swim Grand Prix
Palau Swimming Association announces the start of the annual 2022 Grand Prix Open Water Competition. This three-event series will kick off at 7 AM on Saturday May 7th with the Etpison Challenge held on the Koror side of the Japan -Palau Friendship bridge. The second leg kicks off on Saturday June 4 at Skojio and the third leg which is also the annual Palau Open Water Championship will take place on Saturday July 16 (venue to be announced).
All three events feature 500 meter and 1.5, 3 and 5 kilometer swims. Persons entering the Grand Prix are encouraged to swim the same distance in all three events. Cumulative points will be awarded as swimmers compete for the Grand Prix Cup.
Pre-registration is recommended. To pre-register, come to the pool on Friday, May 6 after 4 PM or email palauswimming@gmail.com. Late registration will be held 6-6:30 AM at the venue on Saturday. All persons intending to swim must complete registration and check-in formalities no than 7 AM. The event will start promptly at 7:30 AM.
