The Melekeok State has established sister city ties with Taichung City in Taiwan.
In a resolution, the Melekeok State legislature said the sister cities are aimed at building a strong people-to-people exchange and a bilateral relationship based on mutual cooperation.
The resolution said the relationship between Palau and Taiwan has deepened.
Taichung City, the resolution said is renowned for its Arts and Cultural Center “which serve to preserve its culture with interesting temples, museum, and cultural venues.
They said Melekeok State is similar for being renowned for constructing the abai , the meeting house for the high chief of Palau. Constructing in various states of Palau including Germany.
The legislature said both cities are doing their work in preserving is culture and forming their society.
They added that Melekeok will gain benefits from the ties with the city by gaining insights and sharing knowledge with each other.
