The brain is sitting at the top of the body. Hurtful things like annoying water from  leaky faucet drips to our body.  We may forget emotional abuses from our childhood but the body remembers everything. Results: diabetes, cancer, Chronic diseases and mental disorders and illnesses.

In (2024) 53 domestic violence were reported here in Koror.  Mostly contributed to drugs and alcohol abuses.

Experts tell us that there’s a connection between emotional and non-emotional abuses to most diabetes and chronic diseases.

Palau has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the world, according to President Surangel Whipps Jr. State of the Republic Address ( SORA) in April 2023.

In 2021, Palau’s Non-Communicable Disease “Hybrid” Survey shows that 22.2% of adults have diabetes and 36% are almost there — meaning that nearly half of Palau’s adult population is affected by diabetes.

There is a link between emotional abuse and the development or exacerbation of diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes. Childhood emotional abuse, as well as adult interpersonal violence or abuse, has been associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes. This association may be mediated by increased depression and other stress-related factors.

Depression, (an anger against self) in women and even adolescent girls (and boys) highly associated with emotional abuse. Girls tend to eat their pain away while boys go to drugs and alcohol. Both sexes become promiscuous using sex just to forget. Life stresors push us to self medicate that csuse more domestic violence and other family problems and the cycle of abuses keep on rolling from one generation to the next.

Emotional abuse can lead to chronic stress, which in turn increases the levels of stress hormones like cortisol. High cortisol levels can interfere with insulin production and make the body less sensitive to insulin, leading to insulin resistance, a key factor in type 2 diabetes.

The emotional distress caused by abuse can lead to changes in eating habits, lack of physical activity, and other unhealthy behaviors that can contribute to diabetes.

Some studies suggest that emotional abuse may have a direct impact on the body’s metabolism and insulin sensitivity.

Denial can be a defense mechanism used to cope with the overwhelming emotions associated with depression or grief, but it can also hinder the process of healing and recovery. While denial might offer temporary comfort, it can ultimately prolong sadness, anxiety, and other symptoms of depression by preventing individuals from confronting their feelings and seeking help.

We can be so ashamed that our primary caregivers or spouses, siblings were emotionally abusive by bullying and unkind so we deny trying to keep peace but peace is only sweet after the storm.

Jesus will keep our secrets when we tell him our fears and shame .  He’s so kind and understanding. Full.of love and grace.

This may sound like a cliche but it’s the only way to true inner healing of our deep wounds – our childhood hurts that we have forgotten. We just need to name each hurt.  When God heals he doesn’t erase all our history – memories away.  He just sanctify them.  Sanctify is to set them apart from your true self. He allows your true self to grow as he designed you to be.

He perfects us in love that fear leaves us and help us grow secure in Christ.  Not in words but in character.

John 4:18 states, “There is no fear in love,  fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” In simpler terms, love and fear are opposing forces, and when love is complete, it eliminates fear because fear often stems from the anticipation of punishment.

Don’t forget that God loves you!  And

Remember me loving you.
