May 2, 2017 Koror, Palau:  The Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment & Tourism, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), hosted Palau’s first GEF Pacific Constituency Meeting.   The inaugural meeting was held on May 1-2 and provided an opportunity for the Pacific Constituency to set its strategic directions in preparation for the GEF 7 replenishment meeting.


Vice President Raynold B. Oilouch gave the keynote address to open the meeting, noting a successful example of an opportunity in which Palau accessed funding through GEF 4 that provided seed money into the Republic’s endowment with the Micronesia Challenge; an endowment in which Palau accessed for the first time in February in addition to the ongoing utilization of the Green Fee.

Countries represented included delegates and dignitaries from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu. [/restrict]
