the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Rotary Club of Palau signed a cooperative agreement on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, supporting public awareness about common vaccine preventable diseases, such as polio, as well as other infectious disease threats, such as Dengue Fever.

The agreement was signed in commemoration of World Polio Day which is observed every year on October 24th.

The Rotary Club of Palau is part of the Rotary International, a global network consisting of neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who take action in order to create lasting change in communities around the world.

Under the cooperative agreement with MOH, the Rotary Club of Palau will assist the Ministry of Health by supporting community initiatives and other measures that strengthen awareness regarding vaccine preventable diseases and other infectious threats.

The agreement was signed by Palau Minister of Health Emais Roberts, MD, FACS and Rotary Club of Palau President Danka Ledgerwood. Dr. Gregory Dever, a former MOH Clinical Director and Rotary Club of Palau Member, was present to witness the signing. Dr. Dever also spoke at the October 19th Rotary Wine & Cheese Celebration fundraiser regarding Rotary International’s campaign to eradicate polio. (PR)
