About 4,500 third graders from homeschools, private schools and public schools located on Guam and the Common Wealth of the Northern Marianas will each receive a Webster’s Paperback Dictionary as a resource tool to help with the student’s educational needs. The Literacy project is a joint effort of the Rotary Clubs of Guam and the CNMI.

The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our Rotarian’s to give these dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.

Through individual Rotary Clubs, we want to provide a personalized dictionary to every third grade student in our Micronesia District. In this way we hope to help them to improve their communication skills and make the most of their education.

The Rotary Club of Guam, The Rotary Club of Tumon Bay, The Rotary Club of Northern Guam, The Sunrise Rotary Club, The Rotary E Club of Pago Bay and The Rotary Club of Saipan have joined forces to help our children excel in their education. This is just a small token for the great success students continue to celebrate day by day. (PR)
