What’s the most hurtful thing your mother or father has ever said to you?
One of the MOST HURTFUL THINGS came from my STEPMONSTER!!! By Raven Rowantree
When I was in my early thirties – MANY years ago I was in a thirty day inpatient program for a eating disorder!
We had a family group therapy session one evening and my father and STEPMONSTER came!! I was so excited 😆 that my father was there – as he had to drive from another state to be there. When we were on a break – me and my STEPMONSTER – went outside for a smoke break ( my father did not go – he is not a smoker) – ANYWAY – I was talking to the STEPMONSTER and let her know how happy 😊 and excited I was as my father had driven five hours to be there.
I WILL NEVER FORGET what that woman said – ‘well you know Nancy he really did NOT drive all this way just to be here for you and this therapy session – he had to be here ANYWAY as he has a meeting here – he just decided since he was here – he would come to the family therapy session “! I was CRUSHED!!!! The little bit of progress i made in that therapy session with my father was just shot to hell!!! I actually NEVER made it back to the therapy session after that!!!!
My father TRIED to talk to me about what happened and I tried to explain to him what happened – the STEPMONSTER DENIED she ever said that and he BELIEVED HER – I actually NEVER really talked to him EVER AGAIN after that. This happened over 35 years ago and I have maybe 🤔 talked to him three or four times and have ONLY seen him ONCE!
She has passed away and from what I understand he is sick and alone!!!
In that moment when he choose to believe STEPMONSTER and NOT his OWN CHILD – it was clear to me he had a new family!!!!
Am I BITTER you bet I am! Oh by the way father – where is YOUR so called new family since you are so sick??? Oh from what I have heard through the grapevine – they are nowhere around!!!”

To move beyond bitterness is to forgive everyone involved and move on. Starting with those she needed to forgive include those of her mother that brought in the monster into the house. The father so broken a d escaped into the arms of the .monste
