The MOU calls for Palau Mission Aviation to provide medical evacuation for patients requiring such services from the States of Angaur and Peleliu and air support for Search & Rescue operations and marine surveillance missions.
President Remengesau spoke at the signing expressing his joy that the parties were able to come to an agreement. “The people of Angaur and Peleliu have been looking forward to this agreement for quite some time now, and I am very pleased that we can now begin much needed services with PMA,” the President added.
Further strengthening marine domain security, PMA will assist Bureau of Maritime Security, Fish & Wildlife Protection and the Palau National Marine Sanctuary in Search & Rescue operations as well as marine surveillance missions.
“It is natural that PMA is selected to perform these essential services, as they have been in Palau for so long. They know the terrain, the people and have grown with the Republic over so many years.” says President Remengesau.
Pastor Nob Kalau, the President of PMA, expressed his commitment to doing their best for the Palauan people and thanked the Palau Government, the people of Peleliu and Angaur for entrusting PMA to perform such essential services.
Pacific Mission Aviation (PMA) has been serving Palau since January 1956 and also serves the neighboring Micronesia States [/restrict]
