Overview:
Kerreng M. Kloulechad, a recent Mindszenty High School graduate, has been awarded the Speaker Tadao Ngotel Scholarship for the 2026–2027 school year to support her studies in psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. The $500 scholarship continues the late Speaker Ngotel’s long-standing commitment to helping Ngarchelong students pursue higher education.
In 2005, the late former Speaker Tadao Ngotel established a private scholarship to help students from Ngarchelong pursue higher education and achieve their educational goals. The 2026–2027 school year marks the 22nd year of the Speaker Tadao Ngotel Scholarship, one of the private scholarship programs administered by the Palau National Scholarship Board (PNSB).
The scholarship provides a one-time award of $500 to a student of Ngarchelong citizenship who has recently graduated from high school and plans to enroll in college. To qualify, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
For the 2026–2027 school year, the Speaker Tadao Ngotel Scholarship was awarded to Ms. Kerreng M. Kloulechad, a recent graduate of Mindszenty High School who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
Kerreng’s father, Mr. Temael Kloulechad, proudly accepted the scholarship check on her behalf from Mrs. Merly Kuartei, as PNSB Secretary Melangch Ngirmeriil witnessed the award presentation.
The late Speaker Ngotel was a strong advocate for higher education. Following his passing, his daughter, Mrs. Merly Kuartei, has continued to fund the scholarship in his honor, ensuring that his commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of Ngarchelong students lives on.
