Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA) Director Ismael Aguon

Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA) Director Ismael Aguon said in an interview that they are anticipating that there will be more attempts from people trying to sneak in illegal drugs during summer when it is high peak season.

Aguon revealed that there are more trends of people trying to smuggle drugs to the country during summer and Christmas holidays since there are more people on island.

“There is confusion in crowds so it is less detection [for them],” Aguon said.

According to Aguon, NEA had conducted various trainings and even shared information with other concerned agencies regarding the different methods used in smuggling drugs in the country, including cases where individuals try to do it by hiding drugs internally.

Aguon said that their office is working on a lot of investigations now.

“I hope very soon; we will agree that some of the people we will be arresting in the future are probably fitting on the [“big fish” description],” Aguon said, referring to high-profile suspects. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
