A second candidate have entered the race for Vice Presidency according to sources close to Senator Frank Kyota, who is said to have informed his family of his decision to run for Vice President in the 2020 General Election.

Senator Frank Kyota, who is serving his first term as Senator, will be running against his colleague, Senator UduchSengebau-Senior who has openly declared her candidacy for the Office of the Vice President and has been conducting campaign meetings overseas.

Senator Kyota did not deny the reports but said he was still getting feedback from the community and his family.

Prior to his first foray to politics, Senator Kyota served as Shell Palau Corporation General Manager for years and has been on the board of the Palau National Olympic Committee, serving as its president as well for many years.

This decision means two popular incumbent senators will not run again for Senate office next year.

To date, four candidates have openly declared intentions to run for the Office of the President and now two are up for the Vice President’s seat in the 2020 General Election. (L.N. Reklai)
