KUABES STATE PARK, Ngaraard — The people of Ngaraard State came together on Sunday, January 12, to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of their state constitution at Kuabes State Park.

The event served as both a celebration and a forum for reflection, allowing citizens to revisit the constitution adopted over four decades ago. Attendees had the unique opportunity to engage with some of the original framers of the document, discussing potential updates to address societal changes and modern challenges.

State leaders and framers of the constitution delivered remarks highlighting the enduring importance of the document while acknowledging the need for adaptation in response to shifting norms. With nearly all of Palau’s 15 states having constitutions older than 30 years, the event underscored ongoing efforts to balance tradition with progress.

The day was filled with vibrant discussions, an abundance of food, and a shared sense of goodwill, creating an atmosphere of unity and purpose as the people of Ngaraard reflected on their constitutional journey.  (By: L.N. Reklai)
