On October 7, 2020, PNSB Treasurer Caroline S. Skebong witnessed Honorable Governor Benjamin Iskawa award the first-ever recipient of the Ngaraard State Government Scholarship for this school year 2020-2021. This is the first year that this scholarship has been offered. An Emmaus-Bethania High School graduate, Ms. Jaden N. Remoket was awarded the NGS to help her pursue her pre-medicine studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. 

This outstanding student met all the requirements of being a recipient of the Ngaraard State Scholarship and was selected by the Palau National Scholarship Board. The qualifying criteria of the NSG Scholarship include a student and a parent must be a citizen of Ngaraard State, has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, accepted to a college, and, one of the applicant’s parents must sign the Ngaraard State Scholarship application as well. Ms. Remoket received a check for $1,000.00 to help her with educational expenses. 

The Ngaraard State Scholarship was newly created by Ngaraard State Public Law No. 10-8 this year 2020.  Based on NSPL No. 10-8, NSG tasked the Palau National Scholarship Board to be responsible in collecting, reviewing, selecting, and informing NSG of the recipients according to established criteria for the scholarship.
