Cheldellir a Redil a Semsemel a Beluu

Women of Ngarchelong gathered at Bai Mengellakl in Ngarchelong State to hold their first Women’s Forum.

The one-day forum held on Friday December 13, 2024 invited all Ngarchelong women stakeholders  to take part in  dialogues to strengthen women’s  roles in farming, resource stewardship, business ventures and leadership.  The forum’s goal was to renew the sense of responsibility and ownership concerning women and their roles. And to reinforce resilience against various change factors affecting the vital roles women play within communities.

The Forum theme, ‘Cheldellir a Redil a Semsemel a Beluu’ emphasizes the cultural value in the unity of women, whom together weave a strong bond pivotal to a   village’s strength and support. And is  reminder that “alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much”.

Also joining the forum were Ngarchelong Elementary School students grade 6th 7th and 8th.  partaking as observers to the process of strengthening community resilience.  The women believe including children old enough to comprehend community initiatives is part of instilling  community responsibility to their educational experience.

This long-expected Forum is  the first gathering of what is hoped  to become an annual event for the continuation of dialogues and collaborative association between Ngarchelong women representing different areas  of traditional,  private and public affairs.

The women’s forum also lines up with the first Rubekul Ngarchelong Forum held in December of last year 2023. Both forums come as State Government initiatives organized by the State Planning Commission as a step further in the implementation of the State’s Master Plan.

The Ngarchelong State Government, 21st Ngarchelong State Assembly and the Ngarchelong State Planning Commission send sincerest gratitude to all donors and supporters for their contributions and assistance towards the success of the first Ngarchelong State Womens Forum.
