NGEREMLENGUI, Palau – The rehabilitation of Ngeremlengui’s Fishing Market and Gas Station has been completed, promising long-term benefits for local fishermen, residents, and the broader community. The newly upgraded facility is expected to enhance economic opportunities, ensure reliable fuel access, and promote sustainable development across the state.
On April 1, 2025, Delegate Rechelulk Mengkur, chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means and Financial Matters, and Ngeremlengui State Delegate Portia Franz-Kesolei visited the completed site. They commended the collaborative efforts that brought the project to fruition, highlighting its significance in improving livelihoods and strengthening the local economy.
The project was made possible through the leadership of Supervisor Morei S. and his team—Olshane, Bechedongel, and Ngirailab—who worked closely with the Ngeremlengui community. Their collective dedication reflects the resilience and unity of the people in advancing development initiatives that directly benefit residents.
Funding for the project was allocated through the national budget under RPPL 11-37, which was signed into law by President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. for the 2025 fiscal year. The legislation appropriated $35,000 specifically for the rehabilitation of the Fishing Market and Gas Station, reinforcing the national government’s commitment to supporting state-level infrastructure improvements.
The upgraded facility reflects intergovernmental cooperation and community-driven development. With improved amenities, local fishermen now have better access to markets, while residents and businesses can rely on a stable fuel supply—critical components for economic growth and daily life in Ngeremlengui.
