The Lionfish Challenge is the first leg of Palau Aquatics Federation (formerly Palau Swimming Association) Open Water Grand Prix and kicks off on Saturday, March 30 at 7 AM at the Koror side of the Japan – Palau Friendship Bridge.  The Grand Prix is a series of three (3) open water swim events with leg 2 (Etpison Cup Challenge) on April 13 at Skojio in Meyuns, and leg 3 on May 11at the Palau Pacific Resort.

The distances in each leg are 250 and 500 meters, 1.5, 3, and 5 kilometers.  Participants can swim any leg of the series, but to be eligible for the 2024 Grand Prix trophy, a participant must swim the same distance in all three legs.  Results from all 3 legs will be averaged and trophies awarded to persons (male and female categories) with the top three fastest overall times in each of the distances. There is no trophy for the 250-meter event as this is a “starter” event for persons new to open water swimming.

Registration forms are available at the National Swimming Pool in Meyuns, by email (palauswimming@gmail.com) or onsite Saturday morning. All participants must be checked in by 6:30 AM to swim. (For 250-meter participants, check in no later than 7:30).

Palau Aquatics invites the community to come and participate or to cheer on the swimmers.  There are no age limits, enthusiasm only is required.
