October 4, 2024 – Palau: The Pacific Games Council (PGC) has officially selected the Cook Islands as the host of the 2029 Pacific Mini Games and Tonga as the host of the 2031 Pacific Games. The decision was made during the PGC General Assembly held this week in Palau, where members cast their votes for the future hosts.

In addition to the host selections, the current PGC Executive Board members were re-elected for another four-year term. President Vidhya Lakhan and Vice President Marcus Stephen will both continue to serve in their respective roles.

During the meetings, Palau provided updates on preparations for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, scheduled to take place from June 29th to July 9th, 2025. The updates included site visits to sports facilities and discussions with Dr. Patrick Tellei, Chairman of the Games, and Frank Kyota, President of the Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC) and Pacific Games Association (PGA).

The General Assembly wrapped up today, Friday, October 4th, with many members departing for their home countries. The Palau NOC/PGA and the 2025 Pacific Mini Games Organizing Committee extend their heartfelt congratulations to the Cook Islands and Tonga on their successful bids, and to the PGC Executive Board on their re-election.

Congratulations to all on a successful Pacific Games Council General Assembly in Palau, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games.
