Pacific Islands countries are deeply saddened by the on-going devastation of bush-fires in Australia, destroying livelihoods, ecosystems, homes and cost lives across the country.
Issuing a statement on behalf of the Pacific Islands Forum, Tuvalu Prime Minister, Kausea Natano sent deep condolences of every Pacific Islander to their counterparts in Australia for their losses.
“My deepest condolences, especially to the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their loves, said PM Natano.
“I also recognize and commend the ongoing courage of the firefighters who continue to risk their lives to save others during this difficult time.
“The Pacific Islands Forum stands ready to collectively support Australia as best as we can.”
PM Natano urged Pacific Islanders to support efforts to help families in Australia who have lost everything in the fire.
