President Surangel Whipps Jr. thanked the Australian government for supporting Pacific solidarity, ensuring a face-to-face meeting of the Pacific leaders.
“There’s nothing better than a face-to-face meeting, eating together and joining in activities,” explained Whipps, to build stronger ties between Pacific Island countries.
“We thank the people of Australia. Australia saw the importance of unity of the Pacific countries and sent planes to pick up Micronesian leaders to the Forum’s June and July meetings”.
Australian Ambassador to Palau, Richelle Turner, affirmed Australia’s strong support of the Pacific solidarity and unity. She said Australia was pleased to provide solutions to travel challenges by providing air transport for the Pacific leaders to attend the Forum Leaders meeting in Suva, Fiji.
Whipps expressed his support for the Pacific solidarity, saying, “We face many challenges, climate change, COVID impacts, and now conflict. So it is important that we, the Pacific people, strengthen ourselves and come together to address these challenges with one voice.”
