October 30, 2017 (Guam) Palau Team (the Belau Kanu Club) consisting of men’s team, women, mixed and juniors swept most gold in the recently concluded 19th Micronesian Cup hosted in Guam last week.

This year 18 teams registered to compete, with 12 teams from Guam, four from Saipan and one from Palau.
The event included 500 meter sprints, 1000 meter sprints and long distances which include 2 miles for juniors, 6 miles, 8 miles and 10 miles.
Belau Kanu Club(BKC) Mixed won first place in the 6 mile race, while the BKC Women got first place on the 8 mile race. BKC Men won 1st place in the 1000 meter sprint and the BKC Mix and BKC women also dominated the 500 meter sprints. Total tally came to 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze for Belau Kanu Club.
The annual event was hosted this year by Guam and will be hosted next year in CNMI. The hostings of the annual canoe competition rotates between the three jurisdictions, Guam, CNMI and Palau. Palau hosted the 2016 Micro Cup. [/restrict]
