The Palau Chamber of Commerce has recently elected its 2018 slate of officers and new board members.
Elected as President is Vivien Protine, Manager of VIP Hotel ;Vice President is Surangel Whipps Jr., President and CEO of Surangel & Sons Co ; Secretary is Tarita Holm, HBO Construction Representative and Treasurer is Merkii Basilius, DFS Sales Operation Manager.

Elected Directors are Vance Polycarp, Minoru Ueki and Kassi Berg.
For their first meeting of 2018, Palau National Scholarship Board’s Student Network Specialist Obechou Mereb was the speaker and presented to the members’ the board’s internship program.
Businesses are encouraged to be involved in providing internship opportunities for Palauan students, according to the Chamber’s website.
The Internship program will run for eight weeks and slated for the summer. The aim of the program is to encourage students who graduated from college to find jobs in Palau or return to the country.
The stipend and airfare of interns are provided by PNSB, while the business/agency provides the student with supervision/hands on learning experience and assessment. [/restrict]
