Minister Baklai Temengil-Chilton and Minister Faustina K. Rehuher-Marugg along with KETC members presented a set of the translation of Kramer volumes to Minister of Education Sinton Soalablai in a Principals meeting on January 05, 2017. Minister Rehuher Marugg gave a brief background of the KETC work and steps into translating, reviewing, and publishing the books.

Minister Temengil-Chilton highlighted the valuable ethnographic information contained in the book and most especially the bai’s documented in the early 1900’s.  Mr. Thomas Schubert, Honorary Consul of German to Palau and member of KETC, reiterated the fact that it has taken 100 years to translate into English the South Seas Expedition German accounts of Palau documented by Dr. Augustin Kraemer.

Minister Soalablai expressed his appreciation for the donation of one set of the 7 volume books and DVDs which will be distributed to all public schools and that it will be an additional resource to Palauan and Social Studies being taught in schools.  He emphasized that written materials and resources have greater chance of enhancing curriculum deliverance by teachers in the classrooms.

All public schools are equipped with tablets and Minister Soalablai assured that pdf of all seven volumes will be made available to all students through the tablets.  Minister Temengil concluded the short presentation by informing everyone that President Remengesau signed an Executive Order (407) to continue the work led by KETC.  Books are sold for $175.00 and DVD are sold for $12.50 at Etpison Museum and Belau National Museum Gift Shops.
