Palau is leading the COVID-19 vaccination coverage, as part of the United States Operation Warp Speed, with 17 percent of its population having been vaccinated, according to the latest vaccination tracker.

In the world, Palau is also one of the nations to vaccinate a higher percentage of its population, joining Israel and the Vatican.

Israel has already vaccinated 20 percent of its population.

In addition to the 50 states in the US, the federal government also distributes vaccines to territories and Freely Associated States such as Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Island, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

The first dose of the Moderna Covid -19 vaccines has already reached 17 percent of the total 18,000 population of Palau, and with expected deliveries every month, the nation is working to vaccinate nearly all of the people living here.

A total of 3,046 have already received the first dose as of this week, the second dose will be administered by Feb1, according to health officials.

President Surangel Whipps Jr. praised the Ministry of Health for its work in accelerating the pace of the vaccination.

“Kudos to Palau’s Ministry of Health for having dispersed all the first dose of vaccines received to date. Let’s continue to support our ministry of Health as they work to keep us COVID safe. A special thanks to the People of the United States and Operation Warp Speed,” Whipps said on his personal Facebook page.

According to the Washington Post, there are 21.1 million people in the US including its jurisdictions that have partially or completely received doses of the vaccine.

The report also said that President Joe Biden is working on speeding up the vaccination by aiming to protect millions of people per day for the first 100 days in office,

Next to Palau, American Samoa, a territory of the US has 14.8 percent of its population with 8,133 jabs administered.

Marshall Islands have vaccinated 6 percent of its population and FSM at 3.1 percent
