Palauan Olympian wrestler Florian Temengil took another Gold medal in the Jiu-Jitsu World League competition held in Dallas, Texas, in February 2021.
A true Olympian, Temengil continues to compete and excel, in this case winning a Gold Medal in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wrestling competition. The sport is a self-defense martial art and combat sport based on grappling and submission holds, in which Mr. Temengil has gained world-class exposure.
Mr. Temengil represented Palau in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as the 2016 Rio Olympics, and was awarded a scholarship to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which have been rescheduled to summer 2021.
He is the 2016 Oceania Wrestling Gold Medalist in the freestyle heavyweight division. He has competed across the globe with the world’s best wrestlers. In 2016, he was ranked 19th in the world.
Even in his downtime, he continues to train and compete, and is regarded as a true Palauan Olympian.
