Palau Aquatic Federation’s signature event – the Open Water Championship hosted by Palau Pacific Resort will kick off once again on Saturday June 17. This annual event features different distances catering to every age and swimming level. This event also doubles as Leg 3 of Palau’s Open Water Grand Prix.
This year’s championship features two long-distance events – 5 kilometers and 3 kilometers. Both long-distance events start with late registration and check-in at 6 AM and kick off at 7 AM.
Short-distance events – 250, 500, and 1500 meters – are up next. Late registration and check-in take place 8-8:30 AM on the beach with events starting at 9:30. Awarding and a light brunch catered by Kramer’s Restaurant will follow the short-distance events.
Palau Aquatics Federation welcomes all swimmers – residents and visitors – to take part in this premier event. A special invitation is extended to athletes and coaches registered for the upcoming Belau Games. The state team with the most participants (as a percent of total registered athletes) and the most sports participating will receive a special incentive prize.
Preregister via email (payment on the beach on Saturday) at palauswimtreasury@gmail.com or come to the PPR on Saturday morning for late registration. Regardless of pre-registration status, all swimmers in the long events must check in and be numbered by 6:30 AM. Swimmers in the shorter events must check in and be numbered no later than 8:30 AM.
Palau Aquatics thanks co-sponsors of this event – Palau National Olympic Committee, Koror State Government, Palau Pacific Resort, Palau Shipping, Palau NCD Fund, and Kramer’s Restaurant. We look forward to welcoming all swimming enthusiasts on the beach this Saturday.
