And they’re off! Swimmers starting the 5-kilometer event in the Second Leg of the Palau Open Water Grand Prix on June 4th at Skojio.

It’s that time once again! The annual Palau Open Water (Swimming) Championship is on for this Saturday, July 16 with five different events that cater to every swimming level. This is Palau Swimming Association’s “signature” event hosted by Palau Pacific Resort. This event also doubles as Leg 3 of Palau’s Open Water Grand Prix.

This year’s championship takes place off the Palau Pacific Resort beach front. It features two long-distance events – 5 kilometers and 3 kilometers. Both of these events start early with late registration and check-in at 6 AM and kick off at 7 AM.

Shorter distance events – 250, 500, and 1500 meters – are up next. Late registration and check-in take place 8-8:30 AM on the beach with events starting at 9. The 250-meter course runs along the beach in shallow water and is appropriate for novice swimmers including children in the learn-to-swim program. Awarding and a light brunch will follow completion of the short distance events.

Palau Swimming welcomes all swimmers – residents and visitors – to take part in this premier event. We extend a special invitation to the swimmers among the U.S. military personnel on the island.

Preregister via email (payment on the beach on Saturday) at palauswimtreasury@gmail.com or come to the National Swimming Pool in Meyuns after 4 PM on Wednesday 13 July.
