On July 17, 2026, members of the Palau Pledge Dive Club gathered for a Summer Fun Dive Activity in the beautiful waters of Ngerchong. Supported by the NCD Grant Fund, which is designed to support community-led initiatives that directly helps the objectives of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan for NCD Prevention and Control.

The day began with a safety briefing before participants explored the vibrant reefs of the Ngerchong area. Surrounded by healthy coral gardens, colorful reef fish, and thriving marine life, the young divers experienced firsthand the beauty and biodiversity that make Palau’s waters among the most remarkable in the world.

The activity also reinforces the connection between healthy people and a healthy environment. Diving encourages physical activity, supports mental well-being, and inspires young people to spend more time in nature while fostering a deeper appreciation for the ocean that sustains Palau’s culture, communities, and way of life.
The Palau Pledge Dive Club brings together Palauan youth who earned their scuba certifications through the Palau Pledge Dive Camp. While certification is an important milestone, the Dive Club provides opportunities for members to continue diving, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the ocean they call home.
Friends of the Palau National Marine Sanctuary extends its sincere appreciation to the NCD Grant Fund for making this opportunity possible. Through its support, Palauan youth are not only strengthening their diving skills but also building friendships, developing leadership, and becoming ambassadors for ocean conservation.
Through the Palau Pledge Dive Club, we continue to inspire the next generation to experience and protect Palau’s marine environment; ensuring that the birthright of the children of tomorrow remains healthy, vibrant, and thriving for generations to come.
