Koror, Palau — The Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) is intensifying preparations to ensure a safe and secure environment during the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, which will bring more than 2,200 athletes and officials to Palau from June 28 to July 9.

A comprehensive and adaptive security plan is currently under development by Co-Lead Planners Chief Favian Ngiramengior and Chief Sanya Olkeriil. With the number of incoming participants continuing to grow, law enforcement agencies are adopting a progressive approach to manage evolving security needs across all venues.

Detective Lt. Lebuu Gibbons has been appointed to lead the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which will coordinate command posts at each event site. Detective Lt. Sabino Kyota Jr. will serve as Deputy Commander of the EOC.

To support round-the-clock security operations, Division of Patrol Chief Ngiramengior is overseeing 12-hour law enforcement shifts centralized at the BPS’s 24/7 Central Dispatch. These teams will provide emergency response, law enforcement, and public safety services throughout Koror, Babeldaob, and other outlying states during the games.

The scale of the event has prompted close collaboration between national law enforcement, state rangers, cadets from the ongoing Police Academy, and regional partners. Officers from 13 regional police agencies are expected to arrive in the coming week to bolster the local force.

The Ministry of Justice continues to work with the Games Organizing Committee and all partner agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes, officials, and spectators, helping create the conditions for a successful and memorable event.

Organizers are also calling on the local community for cooperation and support to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.

For inquiries or additional information, the public is encouraged to contact Chief Favian Ngiramengior at 488-5407 or through the Bureau of Public Safety at 488-1422/5000. (PR)
