President of Palau Surangel Whipps Jr. signed a proclamation on May 8, 2024, designating May 12-18, 2024, as National Police Week in Palau. This week honors and recognizes the dedication and service of the 200 men and women who serve in Palau’s law enforcement agencies.
The proclamation acknowledges these officers’ vital role in ensuring the Republic’s safety and security, maintaining peace, and safeguarding communities. It emphasizes the sacrifices made by police officers who bravely risk their lives and well-being to protect others.
“Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly and serve devotedly to ensure our island nation is protected while exposing themselves to the risk of injury or worse,” the proclamation reads. “The peace and safety we enjoy come at the cost and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers, and as a nation, we must come together to recognize and honor the work of these brave and dedicated men and women.”
Throughout National Police Week, various activities will be held to commemorate law enforcement officers in Palau.
