Palau is sending two athletes to the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany from June 10 – 28, 2023 to participate in the Table Tennis competition.
The Palau National Olympics Committee expresses gratitude to the many supporting sponsors that donated to support the Team. The Surangel and Sons Company and The Republic of China (Taiwan) donated $1000 each to the Special Olympics Palau Team. Altogether, the eighteen supporters donated $6,050 to the team.
“It is heartening to see the generous support from the National & State Government, local & private businesses, and other donors. It is with great appreciation that we reached our target goal and would forever be grateful to all of you,” stated Baklai Temengil-Chilton in the PNOC press release.
The Special Olympics World Games is an important event that promotes inclusion and celebrates the athletic achievements of people with intellectual disabilities from all over the world.
In 2019, Palau sent three athletes, and they returned home with 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. This historic moment had our coaches, parents, staff and leaders in emotional triumph and joy. We were all so very proud.

The team includes 2 Athletes-Wakako Sisior & Hamilton Teriong; Coaches-Orachel Watanabe & Melmalt Tamtreng; Medical Doctor-Dr. Tzun Rafael; & Head of Delegation-Stephanie Ngirchoimei.
