KOROR, PALAU – 15 September 2025: Palau Solar today announced the launch of the ‘Good Deeds’ Competition, a community initiative inviting residents across all islands to nominate a school, church, charity, or community center to receive a free solar panel installation.

The campaign aims to reward a deserving local organization with the gift of sustainable energy, significantly reducing its electricity costs and environmental footprint. In return, every resident who submits a nomination will have the opportunity to receive a $100  discount coupon for a solar installation at their own home.

“Our mission has always been to empower the Palauan community with clean, affordable, and reliable solar energy,” said Ross Waddington, CEO, Palau Solar. “This competition is our way of giving back. We want to help a vital community institution save money on its power bills, so it can redirect those funds to its core mission—whether that’s education, faith, or supporting those in need. We’re excited to see which organizations the community believes are most deserving.”

Greg Decherong, Honorary President, added, “We’re excited to see which organizations the community believes are most deserving. This isn’t just about technology; it’s about strengthening our community. We’re also delighted to offer every participant a path to affordable solar for their own home, making the benefits of renewable energy accessible to even more families in Palau.”

How the ‘Good Deeds’ Competition Works:

1.    Nominate: From 15 September to October 31, any Palau resident aged 18 or over can nominate an eligible organization by filling out a simple online form on the Palau Solar Facebook page.

2.    Share your story: Entrants are asked to explain in a few sentences why their chosen organization deserves to win the free solar system.

3.    Get a personal discount: Everyone who nominates can opt-in to receive a $100  discount coupon for a solar installation at their private home or business.

4.    Win: The Palau Solar team will review all nominations and select a winner based on the organization’s community impact, the feasibility of installation, and the compelling nature of the nomination. The winning organization and the individual who nominated them will be announced in November.

The winner will receive a complete standard solar installation, including panels and grid connection. Palau Solar will also cover repairs and maintenance on the system for 10 years.

Island Times is media partner for this campaign and will be sharing updates on entrants, and of course, the winner and their solar installation.

“This is a chance for our community to come together and do a good deed for a deserving cause,” added Decherong. “We encourage everyone to participate, nominate a group that makes a difference, and take a step towards solar for their own home at a great discount.”
