Palau is set to host its first significant blockchain event, the Blockchain Summit, this August 27-29, 2023, themed “ Navigating the Future of Web3: New Governance and Sustainability Chain”, the Palau Blockchain Society announced at a press conference on June 28, 2023.

The summit serves as a platform for sharing information, networking, and collaborating among the selected attendees.  The event will feature diverse programs, including sessions, panel discussions, and workshops on a range of topics.  Decentralized banking, new governance and charter zones, digital identification, payments, and the blue carbon economy will be a few of the topics to be discussed.

The event is endorsed by the Office of the Presiden of Palau, according to Mr. Alan Seid, one of the founding members of the Palau Blockchain Society.

One of the key purposes of the summit, said Seid, is “to provide experts that will be able to share their knowledge and help the Palauan people understand what blockchain is and what it can do for the country in terms of its economic development.”

Blockchain and Web3 open other opportunities for Palau to diversify its economy added Seid, and the Summit introduces the Palauan people to blockchain technology to better understand and utilize it.

The speakers will include President Surangel Whipps Jr., Tim Draper – Founder of Draper Associates, Benoit Clement of Vera, and others to be confirmed.

The event is open to policymakers, industry professionals, blockchain enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs to learn more about Web3 and its applications.  Attendees are expected to gain insights and potential applications of blockchain technology.

The Palau Blockchain Society hosts the event with the support of Palau Ocean Foundation, Metropolis Global, Cura, and Enjinstarter.
