Palau will be the venue of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New Tourism Frontier Forum slated from Nov. 15 to 17 and the PATA Micronesian chapter on Nov. 13 to 14.
Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) is hosting two of PATA’s event next week, according to Kadoi Ruluked, PVA Marketing Manager.
PATA’s Micronesia chapter delegates from Guam, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands Yap, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands will gather here in Palau for their quarterly meeting.
PATA Micronesia is a regional group of government and private companies involved in tourism and hospitality industry in the western Pacific.
Its goals include educating and training employees of member organizations to serve visitors more effectively, and build marketing programs that will attract more visitors to the islands.
The PATA New Frontier Forum meanwhile consists of a one-day conference, networking events and a day of on-ground activities.
Ruluked said that PATA is an internationally known organization and has several PATA chapters worldwide.
He said that the association provides training, grants for new and emerging destinations and has access to research and innovative events to its member organizations.
Palau is a member of both PATA and the Micronesian chapter.
Ruluked said that the PATA forum would be an opportunity for Palau to get insights of how to promote the island nation and develop the tourism assets of other states.
He also added that PATA’s CEO Mario Hardy is confirmed to attend the Palau forum.
There will also be speakers on the topics of E-Commerce, destination marketing and community based tourism. [/restrict]
